Little Leaguers: Frauds Without Faith

He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

Matthew 10:38 (NKJV)

But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, and saying:
'We played the flute for you,
And you did not dance;
We mourned to you,
And you did not lament.'

Matthew 11:16-17 (NKJV)

Athletes and entertainers must have faith!

  • It takes faith to pursue a heartfelt dream, when the odds seem against you reaching it.

  • It takes faith to compete against thousands, when they’re just as talented as you are.

  • It takes faith to overlook naysayers, when they label you, ‘unrealistic’.

  • It takes faith to wait for your victories, when they seem to be too long in coming.

So exactly who are frauds without faith? They’re followers of Christ… who don't follow.

They’ve been called to a Special Forces Team (specifically, communication), but they refuse or opt-out, when it’s hard.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ, NOTE:

In The Parable of the Talents (your Captain’s last story with instructions), you’re ordered to multiply HIS talents.*

How and why? 'Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven' (Matthew 5:16).

Who are 'they'? 'I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance' (Luke 5:32).

When? ‘Do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed’ (Romans 13:11) 'Behold, I am coming quickly' (Revelation 3:11, 22:7, 22:12).

Are you in Earth’s final inning or act? Some Christians think so, but in any case:

God gave you talent, and He’s called you up. To act, sing, dance, model, and shine for Him. Should you refuse Him and sit on the bench? No!

When the flute plays, dance! You’re actors, models, and talent for Christ.

Little Leaguers: Frauds Without Faith (Part 9)

* I believe our talents are more than gifts from God. I believe they are sacred responsibilities and should be used to glorify God.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
