Soldier's Orders: The Baby Brigade

I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready.

I Corinthians 3:2 (NLT)

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: Think of yourselves as recruits in boot camp. (I'm there with you. I have more to learn, too.) Together, we must all grow up in Christ: built up in love, as we each play our part.

  • Because clearly, we're in a war right now.

  • Because you have a dream to rise and shine.

  • Because you have a commission to lead.

  • Because you have a good fight you must fight, 'As a good soldier of Christ Jesus' (2 Timothy 2:3).

I remain deeply concerned with the state of the American church (as a whole). I’ve seen seasoned Christians on the front lines. Every day, they 'Fight the good fight of faith' (1 Timothy 6:12).

Their movement is apparent, dramatic, positive, inspiring, and effective. They walk in the power of their Captain.

But as a whole, I see many Christians fall into one of two categories:

  1. Cultural Christians: those who talk the talk but don't walk the walk. They’re form without substance, words without heart, 'Wells without water' (2 Peter 2:17). They bear a remarkable resemblance to the world's major movers and shakers, while putting their faith on Christian display.

  2. Immature Christians: true lovers of Jesus who are carried, but don't walk the narrow path of soldiers. They smile, coo, and give sweet hugs. Their churches are like fast-food restaurants– providing tasty bites and lots of fluff– but the solid food of Christ is missing.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

You lead a cultural revolution. It's not violent. It’s no overthrow. It IS a revolt in its root meaning: to TURN or ROLLBACK.* In these two actions, your job is two-fold:

  • To turn the heads of the lost toward God. Too many generations of Christians settled in a church of conformity. Many of its youth feel disconnected from its rulish religiosity. The lost feel judged, ignored, and unwelcome in a “social club” they don’t understand.

  • To roll back “churchy” kin toward Jesus, to the Heart and duty of their Captain. Earth cries out for Christians who act like Christ: big-hearted, joy-filled, cross-bearing soldiers. The Great Commission requires warriors, who know their foe aren’t people, but Satan.

You’re perfectly equipped for this job!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
