Losers: Crazy People

So they arrived at the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gerasenes. When Jesus climbed out of the boat, a man possessed by an evil spirit came out from the tombs to meet him. This man lived in the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain.  Whenever he was put into chains and shackles—as he often was—he snapped the chains from his wrists and smashed the shackles. No one was strong enough to subdue him. Day and night he wandered among the burial caves and in the hills, howling and cutting himself with sharp stones.

Mark 5:1-5 (NLT)

Remember what some said about Jesus: ‘He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to Him?’ (John 10:20).

Now remember ‘Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out’ (Luke 8:2).

We can’t forget the raging lunatic (in today’s verse)… who WAS super-human (not by God’s strength, but by evil spirits).

  • Regarding Jesus, they were flat-out WRONG. People were blind, deaf, and dumb to God’s plan. (Hopefully, they realized their error.)

  • Regarding Mary M, she WAS possessed, but delivered for a glorious role in her Savior’s marvelous ministry.

  • Regarding the crazy, dangerous man, he, too, was possessed and got delivered, to go home as a wonderful witness!

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

No mind’s too clouded for the Lord to clear. No one’s too “gone” for the Lord to hold dear.

SIDEBAR: Mental illness ran through my family: from depression to breaks from sanity. I’ve witnessed pain and heart-rending trauma.

As God’s ambassadors in media, you’ll likely witness some crazy stuff, too. Just don’t be tempted (by rulish Christians) to make snap judgments or write people off.

God is more than ‘Able to make him stand; (Romans 14:4), and Christ is more than able to cleanse him.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
