Dream Haters: Merciless Mockers

Mockers are proud and haughty; they act with boundless arrogance.

Proverbs 21:24 (NLT)

Throw out the mocker, and fighting goes, too. Quarrels and insults will disappear.

Proverbs 22:10 (NLT)

Merciless mockers are brutal bullies, and brutal bullies are frightened failures… in a muscle suit they pretend is real. They huff and puff and shoot their fiery darts, from a guise of superiority.

Merciless mockers can…

  • Put on reason and pretend to be wise.

  • Put on beauty and pretend to be queens.

  • Put on charm and pretend to be friendly.

  • Put on faith and pretend to be holy.

  • Put on airs and pretend their importance.

  • Put on robes and pretend to be judges.

But every put-on will be taken off and fully exposed.. by the Hand of God.

Sooner or later, pretenses will fall, LIGHT will rise, and TRUTH will be evident. Mouths may 'Hiss and gnash their teeth' (Lamentations 2:16) for a time, but the Lord will ALWAYS have the last laugh:

'God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap' (Galatians 6:7). 'For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy' (James 2:13).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: 

Your Captain says victory is built on…

  • Surrender, not striving,

  • Giving, not receiving,

  • Humility, not pride,

  • Gentleness, not assault,

  • And on Jesus, NOT US!

This logic flies in the face of the world. 'For the message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God' (1 Corinthians 1:18).

So if you haven't been mocked, expect it. 'If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you' (John 15:20). Even so, rejoice! You're on track. You’re in the best Company, and you WILL be blessed.

In terms of a godly way to react, what should Christian actors do when they’re mocked?

  • David, the bold, ran toward the mocker.* 

  • Christ, the Lamb, submitted to His mockers. 

  • In both cases, God gave them victory. 

Summarily,

  1. Don't let merciless mockers stop your path.

  2. Draw closer to God. He will be your Strength.

  3. Put on God’s Armor. Mean words will bounce off.

  4. Surely, don’t join merciless mocker mobs…

  5. And defend the weak as the Word commands.
