Dream Haters: Short Sprinters

The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 (NKJV)

When people feel pushed, stressed (or entitled), recurring thoughts can rush through harried minds:

  • Hurry up! Cut in line! So much to do... See that prize? Go for it! You’ll be happy!

The devil’s spin? Life is a short story. Have fun NOW. Make your own happy ending! He “sells” temptations to feel and to show.

  • TO FEEL? Superficial and sensual pleasures.

  • TO SHOW? Prizes, positions, and acquisitions.

Satan trains his players to be sprinters: Life on the fast track! Quick treats on the run. Burnout is a medal of achievement.

On the other Hand,

Our Captain commands us to rest, pray, and share our stuff to find lasting contentment. Each life is a never-ending story. How we live here… sets up our destiny. In this world, we should expect tests and joy.

  • THE TESTS? Trials to strengthen us and increase our faith.

  • THE JOYS? Peace, purpose, and treasure beyond measure.

God trains His players to go the distance: Life is eternal. Victory takes time. Pause and take it in! Life is wondrous. Look around. Travel light.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Slow and steady progress wins two races:

  1. The “race” of life in Christ on Planet Earth.

  2. The “race” of winning roles on stages.

Therefore, 'Run in such a way that you may win' (1 Corinthians 9:24),

'Reaching forward to what lies ahead... press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus' (Philippians 3:13-14).

The Apostle Paul put it this way:

'I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me– the task of testifying to the Good News of God's grace' (Acts 20:24).

If anyone (or anything) pushes you to a short sprint, fast buy, or quick fix, stand strong in Jesus!

'Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength... They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint' (Isaiah 40:31).

When Paul approached Earth's finish line, He said, 'I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith' (2 Timothy 4:7).

I believe you, too, will go the distance!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
