When God’s children walked out their Exodus, God gave Moses intricate instructions… to build a traveling Tabernacle: a 'Tent of Meeting' (Exodus 39:32) for God and for them:
'The excellence of the tabernacle, both in its materials and its workmanship, was a reflection of the excellencies of God. The Tabernacle was also a holy place, because abiding in it was a holy God.' *
When Solomon succeeded King David, God gave the new king abundant supplies… to construct a wondrous temple of stone.
Inside the temple, a veil divided men (and their sin) from God and His Presence. A private room, the Holy of Holies, was entered once a year by the high priest.**
When Jesus, the Man came to live on Earth, God gave Him unprecedented power to build a unique Commune-ity: a Place without any separation, a Way of constant contact with the Lord.
Because the Temple of Jerusalem had been pre-scheduled for demolition, God pre-planned a glorious, new Temple. Its foundation was built upon His Son: 'A Chief Cornerstone, elect, precious' (1 Peter 2:6).
His new Church came without walls or a roof, but with a Body: 'The Body of Christ' (Romans 7:4). ***
