Images: The End Of Idols

Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

1 John 5:21 (ESV)

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Colossians 3:5 (ESV)

Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love.

Jonah 2:8 (ESV)

In every decision, we have choices– like good or bad, right or wrong, life or death, blessings or curses, and God (or idols).

In learning how to live this life on Earth, we also have choices: easy or hard like listening to our wisest teachers or learning from our own foolish mistakes. (I don’t know about you, but I've done both.)

Here's the thing: God is clear about choices: We can't avoid them. We can't deny them. We certainly shouldn't procrastinate, because God won’t allow a middle ground….

Like double-minded, half-hearted Christians, where church is reduced to one day a week (or perhaps better said, two token hours).

Despite every prosperity preacher's wooing words, no man can serve two masters. Undeniably, Jesus Christ said and lived the opposite.

God is perfectly clear about idols. Every single one will break, fail, and fall. But how they fall brings us another choice, and it’s a life-making or breaking choice:

  1. Idols can fall by our own hands, as in 'You will throw them away as an unclean thing' (Isaiah 30:22) or,

  2. They’ll fall by God's Hand, with or without us::

'They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be like refuse; Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord' (Ezekiel 7:19).

'They shall be ashamed and also disgraced, all of them; They shall go in confusion together, who are makers of idols' (Isaiah 45:16).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Like your Captain did when He walked Earth’s fields, you walk straight into a land of idols. Therefore, do exactly what Jesus did:

  • Among the people, be remarkable.

  • Among media kings, be respectful.

  • Among Christian kin, be honest to God.

  • Among everyone, be exemplary.

Don't consider bowing down to idols:

  • Not the world’s idols (wealth, power, and perks),

  • Not media idols (fame and awards),

  • Not church idols (rules and self-righteousness).

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
