Images: The Image Business

To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.

1 Corinthians 9:20-22 (NIV)

The entertainment industry is a business of story-telling images… including: How YOU look is how YOU book.

  • 'I wanted to make an image for myself as an outlaw type. A kind of rock 'n' roll sensibility' (Nicholas Cage).

  • 'I re-invented my image so many times that I'm in denial that I was originally an overweight Korean woman' (David Bowie).

  • 'I've always been aware that the image you patiently construct for an entire career can be ruined in a minute. It scares you a bit, but that's the way things are' (Roger Federer).

On the other hand, frauds are a turn-off:

  • ‘I must have been about 24 when a casting director looked at me during an audition and said “You need to know that you’re enough. Less makeup, more Meghan.” You need to know that you’re enough. A mantra that has now engrained itself so deeply within me that not a day goes by without hearing it chime in my head’ (Megan Markle).

  • 'All that glistens is not gold;
    Often have you heard that told:
    Many a man his life hath sold,
    But my outside to behold:
    Gilded tombs do worms enfold' (William Shakespeare, Merchant of Venice)

Emphatically, our Savior agrees:

  • 'Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness' (Jesus, Matthew 23:27-28).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

You know the importance of imaging. SAVVY BRANDING to get booked for a role (or get signed by a well-known talent rep)... has become a career necessity.

The Apostle Paul understood it well. He was culturally adaptable. He “dressed for success”, as you must do, too!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
