Dream Haters: Entombed Talent
Arise, shine; for your light has come,
And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness will cover the earth,
And deep darkness the peoples;
But the Lord will rise upon you,
And His glory will appear upon you.
Nations will come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.
Isaiah 60:1-3 (NASB)
A tomb couldn’t hold ‘The Light of the World’ (John 8:12), and a tomb couldn’t cover His talents.
It couldn’t stop CHRIST and it can’t stop you.
'No one after lighting a lamp covers it over with a container, or puts it under a bed; but he puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light' (Luke 8:16).
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
Your Savior calls YOU 'The light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden' (Matthew 5:14). The glory of the Lord is upon you, and it’s shining through your talents right now.*
However…
Because 'Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights' (James 1:17)... You’re no more (and no less) than God’s stewards.
And because when Christ returns, He expects “a return” on His investment in you.
Also…
Because the Parable of the Talents shows a dire fate for disobedience. So be wise and be about His business.
'It is required that we be profitable; and if we be not, Christ will not own us as His servants' (Benson Bible Commentary on the Parable of the Talents.)**
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
You are the King’s profitable servants assigned to Earth’s most profitable fields. Your performances awe and inspire me!
My prayer is for you to continue: continue to multiply God's talents, even when it's hard, even when it hurts, even when you can't (yet) see the profit... because He sees it!
My second prayer is about caution: DON’T be cautious about moving forward (wholeheartedly, knowing God is with you), but DO be cautious around dream haters.
Learn to perceive, ignore, and avoid them. When necessary, put on God’s armor and push straight through them. Because your conclusion is preordained in Isaiah’s glowing verses above.
Now let’s skip ahead to Isaiah 60’s grand conclusion:
'A little one shall become a thousand,
And a small one a strong nation.
I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time' (Isaiah 60:22)
That end is YOUR END and that time is NOW!
