Dream Haters: Confining Complacency
you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
Revelation 3:17 (ESV)
The complacency of fools destroys them.
Proverbs 1:32 (ESV)
Consider two common definitions of complacency:
'A feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware of some potential danger' (Random House Dictionary).
'A feeling of being satisfied with how things are and not wanting to try to make them better' (Merriam-Webster Dictionary).
Next, consider these same definitions applied to some American Christians:
Compared to those who face persecution, we're snuggled in pleasant security.
Mostly, we're satisfied. But if we aren't, it's largely regarding our OWN DESIRES.
Now, consider complacency's effects in the light of our Captain’s Commission:
'He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me' (Matthew 10:38).
'So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple' (Luke 14:33).
If we're too attached to our pleasant American lifestyles, we're in deep danger:
'You say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing' and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked... Therefore, be zealous and repent' (Revelation 3:17, 19).
Emphatically, Jesus commands us:
'Go therefore and make disciples of all nations' (Matthew 28:19).
'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature' (Mark 16:15).
'Repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His Name to all nations' (Luke 24:47).
'As the Father has sent Me, I also send you' (John 20:21).
‘You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth’ (Acts 1:8)
Therefore:
How can we settle in complacency? How can we refuse Christ’s direct orders? How can we not try to make things better?
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
Jesus did EXACTLY what God ordered. In due time, He became a traveling Man. He made the world a better place for us. You’ve been called to follow in His Footsteps… and become traveling ambassadors for the King of kings.
Traveling on the media’s airwaves (a novel method of transportation) is an elevated super-highway, invented for a time such as this.
In your King’s Name, go. In His talents, go. In the fire of the Holy Spirit, go. Complacency be damned. God is calling.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
