Christian Pitfalls: Lack Of Good Mentorship
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth… ?
Galatians 3:1 (NKJV)
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
Matthew 7:15 (ESV)
For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
Matthew 24:24 (ESV)
Just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies…
2 Peter 2:1 (ESV)
Christians need mentors (a.k.a. pastors, a.k.a. shepherds, a.k.a. seasoned, humble, godly guides). The WISEST of pastors have pastors, too.
Isn’t Jesus enough?
Jesus will always be MORE THAN ENOUGH. If we’re in ‘solitary confinement’ (not by choice, but by hard circumstances)... God will show Himself strong on our behalf, just like with Daniel in the lion’s den.
But…
When Jesus Christ came to Earth as a Man, consider His first 30 human years… BEFORE He assumed His role as High Priest, BEFORE He found and mentored disciples–who would one day become mentors themselves– for boundless believers, including us…
He subjected Himself to temple priests, as an Example we’re wise to follow.
Because without good mentorship, we can…
Get blown off the course God laid out for us,
Drift away from accountability,
Fall victim to unbiblical ideas,
Believe and follow unChristlike doctrine…
Because Satan is a prowling lion,
Seeking sheep disconnected from the flock.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
Find and stay in an honest-to-God church, led by a wise, AVAILABLE pastor, who understands and respects your mission.
Yours is a crucial, challenging calling. It requires mentorship, encouragement– and, when necessary, kind correction.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
