Christian Pitfalls: Lack Of Confidence
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)
For the Lord will be your confidence…
Proverbs 3:26 (ESV)
Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God…
2 Corinthians 3:5 (ESV)
So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’
Hebrews 13:6 (ESV)
Definitions of confidence include:
Full trust; belief in the powers, trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing.
Belief in oneself and one's powers or abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance.
Regarding Christians, the first points to faith– confidence in God! But the second points to SELF-reliance, and we realize… that doesn’t end well.
The antonyms of confidence include… doubt, uncertainty, and hesitation.
Conclusions?
We must NURTURE our confidence in God… So in our tests, we will NOT suffer lack!
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
You know the importance of confidence, because media is competitive. Your smiling grace under pressure books roles! But any “tell” of insecurity harms or stops the rise of potential stars.
What can you do to UP your confidence?
Read and rehearse the truth of your value: ‘I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works; my soul knows it very well’ (Psalm 139:14).
Polish your talent and interview skills: ‘The hand of the diligent will rule’ (Proverbs 12:24); ‘An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge’ (Proverbs 18:10).
Remember your confidence is in Christ! ‘I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me’ (Philippians 4:13). ‘He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness’ ‘ (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Believe Jesus! Believe in your talent. He’s transforming you into His Image. When you smile boldly ((especially in times of high pressure), you’re reflecting Him!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
