The Taylor Swift Effect: A Remarkable Rise

Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.

Titus 2:7-8 (ESV)

Today, the press compares Taylor Swift to Elvis, the Beatles, and Michael Jackson: legendary cultural superstars.

Could this All-American songwriter, with long blonde hair and a welcoming smile, affect not only this generation, but decades of “Swifties” yet to be born?

As I ponder her remarkable rise, Swift is in Canadian stadiums, playing to sold-out, all-in followers.* Her 2-year, record-breaking Eras tour touched and moved over 5 million people: a small tip of her colossal fandom!

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

As God would have it, my thoughts turn to you! Is Taylor a saint (or headed His way?) That’s debatable, but one thing’s for sure:

She’s a uniting and uplifting force– a positive role model for her fans.

  • With years of effort, tuning, and polish,

  • With dazzling shows and relatable words,

  • With visible kindness and compassion,

  • With friendship bracelets and hopeful eyes…

In Taylor Swift’s rise, we witness “goodness” in celebrity.

Is Jesus our principal Example? Of course! And He can work through anyone.

What lessons can we learn from Taylor Swift? Quick answer: A LOT!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
