King Saul: His Eulogy

David took up this lament concerning Saul and his son Jonathan, and he ordered that the people of Judah be taught this lament of the bow (it is written in the Book of Jashar):

“A gazelle lies slain on your heights, Israel.
How the mighty have fallen!...
“From the blood of the slain,
From the flesh of the mighty,
The bow of Jonathan did not turn back,
The sword of Saul did not return unsatisfied.
Saul and Jonathan—
In life, they were loved and admired,
And in death, they were not parted.
They were swifter than eagles,
They were stronger than lions…
Daughters of Israel,
Weep for Saul,
Who clothed you in scarlet and finery,
Who adorned your garments with ornaments of gold.
How the mighty have fallen in battle!
Jonathan lies slain on your heights.
I grieve for you, Jonathan my brother;
You were very dear to me.
Your love for me was wonderful,
More wonderful than that of women.
How the mighty have fallen!
The weapons of war have perished!”

2 Samuel 1:17-27 (NIV)*

How many Hollywood celebrities were considered beautiful, swift, and strong? How many began their media “reigns” as men and women who believed in God…

Only to end their shows as fallen stars– harmed by their inglorious wanderings?

‘How the mighty have fallen in the thick of battle!’ (2 Samuel 1:25).

Battle? Sure! Actors “fight” for leading roles… against thousands in thick competition!

Christians know the real battle is airborne, since 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2) has ruled the entertainment industry. Consider him media's manager.

But this hellish manager has been forced by his Boss (God) Who actually owns EVERYTHING, to give talented Christian performers priceless airtime, as His ambassadors!

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Long ago, God had a plan! He allowed media’s construction for YOUR entrance. As you enter the labor of others, the Almighty reaps where He did not sow. Or, in His Own Words…

‘I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor’ (John 4:38).

‘Reaping where you didn’t sow, and gathering where you didn’t scatter’ (Matthew 25:24).

Therefore, remember the good AND the bad, regarding the rise and fall of Saul.

  • How young Saul was humble, handsome, and brave,

  • How he obeyed the Lord and his elders,

  • How he became a proud and jealous king,

  • How he disobeyed God and got possessed,

  • How he hunted David… and how he died.

No matter what Saul did, David REFUSED to denounce the king in life or death...

As you must also REFUSE to denounce the wayward stars you see in media. Like David, focus on the good you see.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

The Lord now casts you as fishers of men– with your shiny talent offered as bait, with your gracious behavior as the hook… while God's Captain is powering your boat!

You’ve been called to find, feed, and tend God’s sheep. Consider them fans!

When they start watching and following you… you’re offering them the best Example… and you’re showing them the greenest pasture.

King Saul: His Eulogy (Part 10)

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
