Neither ignore nor denounce poor people.
They may need your help, and you may need theirs.
Now take a look at some sad-fact headlines:

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
We can see why poor people need our help, but why in the world do we need THEIR help?
A: This is an arrogant question to ask.
B: Even so, it crosses our plumped-up minds.
But if we believe on the Cross of Christ, then let's dig in the Bible for answers. I, for one, have MUCH I still need to learn…
And until we do, people are dying. Jesus is crying, and we must cry, too.
