Homesick: For Success
Be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey,
Deuteronomy 6:3 (NIV)
Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?
Luke 6:46 (ESV)
Actors, models, and talent for Christ: surely, Christian applause is a sweet sound.
Maybe in church, your talent is valued.
Maybe “the world” isn’t seeing it (yet).
Maybe you don’t feel very successful.
If this feels like it’s you, what should you do?
First, consider how you define success:
Is it the “size” of your stage or your role?
Is it the “amount” of money you make?
Is it the “certainty” of a “real” job?
If this feels like it’s you, what should you do?
Now consider how God defines success:
‘Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and follow it’ (Luke 11:28).
‘Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness [and] self-control’ (Galatians 5:22-23).
‘All these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you OBEY the Voice of the Lord your God’ (Deuteronomy 28:2).*
If these verses aren’t you, what should you do?
As Peter proclaimed to the “successful” religious leaders of his day and time, men of wealth, stature and “security”... ‘We must obey God rather than men’ (Acts 5:29).
Therefore, actors, models, and talent for Christ…
As in Deuteronomy 6 (above), media is a land of promises. It seems to be flowing with milk and money, or, in modern terms, with fame and money!
In your mission to bring light to these fields, as public ambassadors for Jesus and positive role models for your fans…
Remain obedient to your calling. Like Abraham, Sarah, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David– and countless other stars for God! Their leading roles seemed unachievable. Their successes seemed unattainable. So…
Don’t let church or worldly views of success define your own present or coming wins!
Redefine SUCCESS as pleasing God, as obeying God, as waiting on God… and repping Him well to each fan you meet.
Homesick: For Success (Part 8)
NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
