Homesick: For Safety
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8 (ESV)
The Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.
Proverbs 18:10 (ESV)
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
Ephesians 6:11 (ESV)
Whoever listens to Me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.
Proverbs 1:33 (ESV)
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Don't let yourself get “homesick” for safety. Jesus detailed end-times signs like this one: 'Lawlessness will abound' (Matthew 24:12).
Could today's violence and decadence be God-allowed heralds of His return?
I get the desire for security, and that desire is understandable. It's as old as the Lord’s first family. When Cain killed Abel and God sent him out, he pleaded with God:
‘Cain said to the Lord, ‘My punishment is greater than I can bear… I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.’ ‘
Throughout the ages, mankind has been on a quest to stay safe. Consider some ways:
We pretend the danger doesn't exist: 'In the days of Lot, people were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed' (Luke 17:28-30).
We trust our plans of escape or attack: 'The swift cannot flee, nor the strong escape' (Jeremiah 46:6). 'All who draw the sword will die by the sword' (Matthew 26:52). 'Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the Name of the Lord our God' (Psalm 20:7).
We trust in other people to save us: 'Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me' (Psalm 41:9). 'Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save' (Psalm 146:3). 'Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind' (Jeremiah 17:5).
We trust in our own riches or power: 'People, despite their wealth, do not endure; they are like the beasts that perish. This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and of their followers, who approve their sayings' (Psalm 49:12-13). 'Those who trust in themselves are fools' (Proverbs 28:26).
We trust in walls, big locks, and strong cities: 'They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down' (Deuteronomy 28:52). 'When the trumpets sounded... the wall collapsed' (Joshua 6:20). 'Their strong cities will be like forsaken places' (Isaiah 17:9).
We trust in false prophets as our leaders: with 'Great swelling words of emptiness' (2 Peter 2:18), 'False christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect' (Matthew 24:24). But 'If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit' (Matthew 15:14).
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
If Almighty God is your Strong Tower,
If Jesus defeated your enemy,
If the Holy Spirit gives you power,
If you're dressed in spiritual armor….
Fear only dereliction of duty. Your only real safety is found in God, so continue to WALK FORWARD WITH HIM.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
