Homesick: For Guidance

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My Eye upon you.

Psalm 32:8 (ESV)

Your Word is a Lamp to my feet and a Light to my path.

Psalm 119:105 (ESV)

And your ears shall hear a Word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.

Isaiah 30:21 (ESV)

I’m still an unconventional Christian. I found Christ later than most people do (at the “fully ripe” age of 51). Although raised in the Episcopal church, I learned almost nothing about Jesus.

Work and success were my little “g” gods. When those images started to crumble, I met Jesus, and a new life began.

For two years in a cabin on a hill, God’s Word and Spirit gently guided me. Starting so late, I begged to learn quickly. And also because…

I'd stored up fifty-one years of questions, such as…

  • Why are some Christians haughty and hateful?

  • Why do white Christians put down Black Christians?

  • Why do “saints” flaunt their wealth and scorn the poor?

  • How can THEY decide who’s going to hell?

  • How does God love someone unlovable? (Namely me. Secretly, I felt worthless.)

My B.C. problem? I had NO GUIDANCE, teacher, or mentor… about where love, joy, and truth could be found.

Actors, models and talent Christ:

Most of you have grown up in good churches. I've met wonderful pastors and parents: role models of faith for me and my house. But if you leave them for the mission field, and you're missing the lack of their guidance…

Go deeper in God. Ask Him your questions. Keep His Book open, and read it daily. Ask His Sprit to guide you, and HE WILL! Even so, keep them as close as you can AND form friendships with performers of faith.

Because the guidance of God can't be beat (and the Holy Spirit travels with you)... Don't drop out of higher education. The entertainment industry needs you.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
