Impossible Healings: Blind Faith

Now as they went out of Jericho, a great multitude followed Him. And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, 'Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!'

Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, 'Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!'

So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, 'What do you want Me to do for you?'

They said to Him, 'Lord, that our eyes may be opened.' So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

Matthew 20:29-34 (NKJV)*

  • If 'Faith comes by hearing' (Romans 10:17),

  • If 'We walk by faith, not by sight' (2 Corinthians 5:7),

  • If 'The Lord opens the eyes of the blind' (Psalm 146:8),

  • If our Savior knocks before He enters,

  • Then we must hear Him before we see Him.

  • Blind faith requires belief BEFORE receipt.

'Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours' (Mark 11:24).

When Christ began His public ministry, consider how He described His mission:

'The people who sat in darkness have seen a Great Light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.' From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, 'Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand' (Matthew 4:16-17).

As Christians know, to repent is to turn: in this case, to turn from darkness to light.** In terms of healing:

Many live in the darkness of disease: mental, and/or physical confinement.

  • Our cell (circumstance) may be large or small,

  • Seemingly normal or clearly painful,

  • Partly sunny or dreadfully dark.

  • One way or the other, it's STILL PRISON.

Jesus walks the block with a key in His Hand.

  • Some scoff. “It's can’t be true.” They close their eyes, while disease becomes their identity.

  • Others hope. They ask Him to release them, so He opens the door. They are healed! Quickly or slowly, their lives are transformed.

  • 'That the works of God should be revealed' (John 9:3).*** Sometimes in body. ALWAYS IN SPIRIT.

Remember: God’s works aren’t just miraculous healings. They’re also revealed by the noble lives of people who rise with amazing grace.****

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: The world is filled with people in despair.

The blind lead the blind' (Luke 6:39). Both fall into pits.

Jesus says: 'You are the light of the world' (Matthew 5:14). It’s your duty to walk beyond church walls and shine His Light in Earth’s prison systems, one of which is Arts & Entertainment.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
