Impossible Healings The Eviction Of Doubt

'Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?'

As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, 'Do not be afraid; only believe.' And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue and saw a tumult and those who wept and wailed loudly. When He came in, He said to them, 'Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping.'

And they ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying...

Mark 5:35-40 (NKJV)*

Healing by the Wondrous Words of Jesus (and doubting by the wrong words of Satan) do NOT co-exist.

'Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?' (2 Corinthians 6:14).

That's one reason our Teacher instructs us to talk with God in our prayer closet. As a temporary separation from the world, it allows the Word of God to flow freely into our hearts (and lives)!

The healing water of Jesus moves best… when old dams break and mean damns are expelled. Why?

  • Doubt is a damning demon sent from hell… to haunt you and steal opportunities.

Consider the meaning of the word, damn: 'To declare something to be bad, unfit, invalid, or illegal; to condemn as a failure' (Random House Dictionary).

'The accuser of our brethren' (Revelation 12:10) lives to condemn. Therefore…

To get healing (or any gift) from God…

  • Be careful of the company you keep.

  • Avoid dream haters, like the plague they are.

If you live with one, share the love of Christ, but don’t share your dreams. Instead, seek out believers filled with hope.

Learn from the perfect practice of Jesus. He maintained degrees of separation, depending on purpose and circumstance:

  1. Communion with God: 'He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed' (Luke 5:16).

  2. His inner circle: 'He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John' (Mark 5:37).

  3. Other disciples: 'Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples' (John 6:3).

  4. Seekers filled with faith: 'Great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them' (Matthew 19:2).

Lastly, consider His prayer for us: 'I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one' (John 17:15).

Without a doubt, Doubt IS an evil one. Therefore, evict him.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
