Isaiah 61: Fame
Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles,
And their offspring among the people.
All who see them shall acknowledge them,
That they are the posterity whom the Lord has blessed.
Isaiah 61:9 (NKJV)
Actors, models, and talent for Christ: You’re descendants of a rule-driven church, a broken church, the American church. You’re the offspring: a new generation!
The old was split by sectarianism. The new worships God in sweet harmony… because unity is God’s Commandment. Such strength is needed in a fractured world.
The old demanded uniformity. The new welcomes all types, brands, and colors… because the Creator is expressive. Clearly, He celebrates diversity.
As God’s ambassadors in media, you’ve been called to rise in a fallen world. Only once has human need been greater, so Jesus met that need Personally.
What about today? He's waiting on believers to act… before this world’s ultimate finale, to communicate His ultimate plea:
'Follow Me.' Jesus says it 19 times.
Before Jesus, God spoke through His prophets: door-to-door, mouth-to-ear, ink-on-paper. Now His news travels on a worldwide web. Did 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2) inspire greedy men to use it for harm? Certainly, they have.
But now, Jesus claims this primetime… for you!
'The time shall come when the true friends of the Redeemer will be universally honored. They shall be regarded as the favored of the Lord; and instead of being persecuted and despised, the nations of the earth will regard them as worthy of their confidence and esteem' (Barnes Notes on the Bible).*
'God shall dignify them, by making them the blessings of their age and instruments of His glory, and by giving them remarkable tokens of His favour, which shall make them eminent and gain them respect from all about them' (Matthew Henry's Bible Commentary).*
For such a time as this, you, actors, models, and talent for Christ, are 'The posterity whom the Lord has blessed' (Isaiah 61:9).

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
