Isaiah 61: Strangers & Foreigners
Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,
And the sons of the foreigner
Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
Isaiah 61:5 (NKJV)
Actors, models, and talent for Christ: You’re an army of light. You’re God's standard.
You rise above the walls of religion on the airwaves of modern media. Jesus walked on water. Peter did, too. But he fell and you’ve learned from his dunking!
In strong waves, you keep your eyes on the Truth. You won’t be overwhelmed by the currents.
In the Verse above, God says your flocks will be fed by strangers. So what does He mean?
If your flocks might be fans and followers, who are the strangers that are feeding them? Could they be media kings and ad men? Because when they feature you in a show, they spread the Bread of Life unknowingly!
'Nations will come to your light and kings to the brightness of your rising' (Isaiah 60:3). In Jesus, 'You are the light of the world' (Matthew 5:15). You are the stars He sets before strangers.
Because strangers are special to Jesus, He says, 'I was a stranger and you took Me in' (Matthew 25:43). What did He mean?
He knows and identifies with strangers. 'I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My Voice; and they will become one flock with one Shepherd' (John 10:16). Strangers are part of the Lord’s master plan.
So who are the 'sons of the foreigners' that work in your fields?
A new generation born from the old! A new generation of truth seekers, who rise above the walls of religion.
Why? Because religious walls separate us, making us foreign to fellow Christians--and even to God.
But you shed the old robes of manmade rules …to put on your King’s 'Robe of righteousness' (Isaiah 61:10).
You unite and expand God’s family in the mission fields of entertainment.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
