Everyday Stars: Anonymous Givers
Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and immediately he will send them.
Matthew 21:2-3 (NKJV)
'Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?' And He said, 'Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, 'The Teacher says, 'My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.' '
Matthew 26:17-18 (NKJV)
Judas had the money box.
John 13:29 (NKJV)
Everyday stars give anonymously. They refuse to seek personal glory.
Consider givers to the Man, Jesus…
Like the unnamed owner of the donkey our Savior rode into Jerusalem,
Or the householder who offered the room where He and His men ate their last supper,
Or all the donors to His ministry, who provided all necessary funds.
We don't know their names.
But didn't Judas mess everything up? Weren't those givers betrayed by his stealing? Disappointed? Surely. Betrayed? Maybe. But were they rewarded? DEFINITELY.
When we give, The Lord, HIMSELF, repays us. Even more. He repays exceedingly. His Good Word is a stand-alone Promise. HIS WORD DOESN’T DEPEND ON MIDDLEMEN.
(The consequences of mismanagement are between God and them. Think of Judas.)
Therefore, 'Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you' (Luke 6:38).
But why should we give anonymously? Jesus explains:
'Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in Heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father Who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly' (Matthew 6:1-4).
Therefore, BEING AN ANONYMOUS GIVER is an attribute of everyday stars..

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
