Birthday Gifts For Jesus: Frankincense

Now thanks be to God, Who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ, among those who are being saved, and among those who are perishing. To the one, we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other, the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

2 Corinthians 2:14-16 (NKJV)

And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Ephesians 5:2 (ESV)

Frankincense… 'was one of the ingredients in the perfume of the sanctuary. When burnt, it emitted a fragrant odour, and hence, the incense became a symbol of the Divine Name' (Easton's Bible Dictionary).

Therein, the Wise Men's gift of frankincense defines the Messiah’s divinity.

Since most Christian churches don't burn incense, much less frankincense from the Middle East, how can we give this gift to the King now?

  • 'The King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me' ' (Matthew 25:40).

Clearly, we’re ordered to care for His sheep. As Jesus told Peter, He tells us, too:

  • ‘Feed My lambs…’ ‘Tend My sheep....’ ‘Feed My sheep.’(John 21:15-17).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

You’re His disciples and ambassadors. Today, YOU carry 'The fragrance of Christ' sent as a marvelous breath of fresh air… into a dreadfully polluted world.

You bring life to every set, cast, and show. When you walk onto media’s stages, you’re like the gracious woman who carried…

  • 'An alabaster flask of fragrant oil' (Luke 7:37).

When you break open the gift of talent within you, a wondrous scent is released: His Holy Spirit in living color!

Surely, such a gift pleases your Lord.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
