Ten Commandments For Christian Performers: #6, No Hatred, No Anger

You shall not murder.

Exodus 20:13 (NASB)

Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

1 John 3:15 (NKJV)

Our Teacher equates hatred to murder– and anger as its dangerous prequel. ‘I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment' (Matthew 5:22).

In our duty as Christ’s ambassadors (representing our King throughout the world), hatred and anger ‘murder’ our witness… as we act (or react) against orders.

Who could a Christian hate in Hollywood? Who makes us angry? (This list could be long:)

  • A heartless agent?

  • A foul-mouthed neighbor?

  • In-your-face sinners?

  • Scanty apparel?

  • Reality shows?

  • Glamozing lust?

  • Normalizing greed?

  • Disrespecting God?

  • Leading kids astray?

The list of sinners and sins is massive. Only Almighty God can manage it. But here’s some good news: It’s His job– NOT OURS.

Our JOB is to do what our Savior did: love each and every sinner that we meet.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:16-17).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

  • Your role is to love the unlovable, INCLUDING people who make you angry.

  • Your principal role is to be the light in film, fashion, music, and theatre.

  • Summarily, you’re commissioned to be the light everywhere the lights are turned off.

Note:

You can’t control the demon of anger– or the mean people engender it. Even if your emotions are seething… if you don’t express them, you haven’t sinned.

Advice:

Before you “explode”, isolate yourself and give it to God. He’ll cast it away and keep your heart soft: a necessity for evangelists!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If anything I write is on point and agrees with His Word, it’s not from me. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings. This series is a re-write of a prior 2011 series.
