Ten Commandments For Christian Performers: #4, Make Time for God
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exodus 20:8 (NASB)
For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord.
Exodus 31:15 (NASB)
Jesus said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath''
Mark 2:27 (NASB)
God says the Sabbath was created for rest. Some, like Chick-fil-A Owner, Dan Cathy, do so literally and faithfully. He closes all restaurants on Sundays, while most keep running at a frenzied pace…
As our workaholic U.S. culture,
Our make-money-to-get-ahead culture,
Our “Put-the hours-in-like-I-did” culture…
Views rest as little more than laziness.
We can even return from vacations, holidays, and weekends… still depleted. Why? Shopping, errands, cleaning, and our TO-DO’s: the “look-at-me” list that craves attention.
But…
If our Almighty Father RESTED, who are we to think we shouldn't or can't?
If we believe our never-ceasing plans are more important than God's prescribed rest…
We’re saying to Him (in deeds, if not words): 'My TO-DO’s are more important than Yours.'
How does Sabbath rest work in Hollywood? Or New York, 'the city that never sleeps?' Or to actors working nights and weekends so they can audition and/or work by day?
'Complete rest, holy to the Lord' is clear. Here’s a STOP, LOOK & LISTEN action plan:
STOP your ceaseless busyness and seek God
LOOK at His Son’s “To-Do” list: Copy it!
LISTEN to God. He WILL direct your path.
Jesus fulfilled all Old Testament Laws and freed us from religious legalism.
The heart of the Sabbath is time with God!
Therefore, actors, models, and talent for Christ:
By carving out quality time with Him, by putting his plans ahead of your own, you cease busyness and enter His rest. In this holy plan of divine exchange, you’ll find HIS yoke FITS and RELAXES you.
Your exhaustion becomes a memory– and renewal becomes your WAY of LIFE!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If anything I write is on point and agrees with His Word, it’s not from me. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings. This series is a re-write of a prior 2011 series.
