Ten Commandments For Christian Performers: #3, No OMG
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
Exodus 20:7 (NASB)
The devil (and his publicity team) work ceaselessly to trivialize virtue– and at the same time, to MAXIMIZE vice!
Media is his non-stop megaphone, with spinmeisters twisting news to stoke fear, while dark films sensationalize evil.
Satan’s desire is to reduce God’s Light to a flickering candle in the corner.
'Jesus Christ' and 'goddamn it’ are mainlined as nothing more than exclamation points.
'Oh My God' is a highly-favored phrase, and its abbreviation, OMG, has made it into the dictionary.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ: Where do Christian performers draw the line?
Do you refuse roles that call you to curse– and limit yourself to family films?
Do you bite the bullet of a ‘raw’ script and represent Christ on worldly stages?
These questions are a matter for prayer.
Find solace in God’s gracious forgiveness.
'Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter,' and 'Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him' (Mark 3:28, Matthew 12:32).
On the other hand…
'Whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him' (Matthew 12:32).
Speaking against the gift of God's Presence is an extreme and unpardonable sin. But do remember NOT TO JUDGE others.
If a Christian actor chooses to curse for a role is strictly between him or her and God.
BUT… in your own off-camera dialogues, and your “out in the world” conversations...
Don't slide into easy irreverence.
Don’t fall into casual disregard.
Don’t drop OMG like other people.
Don’t imitate anyone but Jesus.
Irreverence is Satan's Grand Canyon. It’s not cool, and it’s no place to visit.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If anything I write is on point and agrees with His Word, it’s not from me. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings. This series is a re-write of a prior 2011 series.
