Name Tags: You are… Lampstands

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV)

We like to think of ourselves as God’s light… sometimes to a deceptive point of pride!

Looking more closely at today’s verses, Jesus also says we’re like a city. Therein, if we're a city on a hill, we've become windowed temples LIT BY CHRIST– with Light that shines most brightly in darkness!

Perhaps LAMPSTAND is most accurate. It’s first used with exquisite descriptions of the lampstand's construction to Moses… and it’s carried through to Revelation.* 

Our role is to display Christ to the world!

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

If you’re God's building with Jesus inside, if you’re God’s lampstands moving in the world, then YOU’RE FULFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION.

No “place” is more worldly than media. Nor is any field more influential… or able to propel God’s light forward… than the industries of Entertainment.

I believe God allowed their construction… for His stars to RISE and SHINE within them.

The wonderfully possible result? Lost lambs (fans) will be drawn to God in you. Therein, bearing the Light of Jesus Christ is both a privilege and a duty.
