Name Tags: You are… The Body Of Christ

Christ is the head of the church, His body, and is Himself its Savior. 

Ephesians 5:23 (ESV)

Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

1 Corinthians 12:27 (ESV)

We are to grow up in every way into Him Who is the Head, into Christ, from Whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Ephesians 4:15-16 (ESV)

The Word says saints are the body of Christ. He is the Head, Who dictates our Orders– while we take the roles of His moving parts.

  • We're His kind smile and compassionate eyes.

  • We’re His honest, gracious, and loving words.

  • We're His strong arms and resolute shoulders.

  • We're His overflowing and refreshing heart.

  • We're his stomach filled with the Bread of life.

  • We're His back never turned in cowardice.

  • We're His hands reaching out to help others.

  • We're His fingers intertwined with our kin.

  • We're His legs walking as circuit preachers.

  • We're His feet balanced firmly on the ground.

But in our movements to fulfill these roles, what we're NOT is tucked up in our houses... 

  • As if Earth is the place we want to stay,

  • As if we don’t know Heaven is our home,

  • As if we don't have a Great Commission,

  • As if a body doesn't need its head, 

  • As if we're self-directed body parts,

  • As if our parts aren’t inter-dependent,

  • As if we're disconnected from His Mind,

  • As if we're disconnected from our kin,

  • As if we're unaware of His Commands.

  • As if we can rise and shine without Him.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ,

While too much of the church has settled down, you're stepping UP on stages and screens: fulfilling your Captain’s ordered mission in a massive field that’s ripe for harvest.

But in the sights and sounds of your fieldwork, don't forget the One Who’s directing you. No body can survive without its head.
