Becoming: Fishermen

He said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’

Matthew 4:19 (NKJV)

Christ called His disciples “fishers of men” – gifted communicators who cast Lines from God in one overriding purpose, with countless wonderful consequences:

  • Happily-ever-after SALVATION… (leading to)

  • Life-fulfilling, life-enriching FREEDOM.

  • From Satan, from sin, and from death itself.

After Jesus left (from then until now), some of His fishermen grew prosperous… and exchanged small boats for cabin cruisers– painting large crosses on each fancy hull. They cast larger nets. They caught loads of fish…

Forgetting that these “fish” are God’s children, who need personal tending to grow UP not only to be God’s fishermen (too), but also fully equipped warriors… who work for God as they fight the devil.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

As I write these words, my heart feels a tug. It’s hard to resist the pull of life’s perks

  • Trading paucity for prosperity,

  • A simple lifestyle for a splendid one,

  • Or a fishing pole for a padded pew.

Jesus warned us of the consequences:

'He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me' (Matthew 10:38).

'Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven' (Matthew 7:21).

God's will? That we obey and resemble His Son! Paul put it this way:

‘Imitates me, as I imitate Christ’ (1 Corinthians 11:1).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Shall we abandon our Christian “cruises” to become simple fishermen again? Rowing sink-proof boats captained by Jesus? Braving the murky seas of media? YES!!!

It can be a rocky ride, but the glow on our faces after a good day's “catch” is worth every sacrificing effort.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
