Becoming: Little Children
Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:3 (NKJV)
Watching little kids (and my grandchildren), I wonder if what we call “growing up” is really growing STIFF– to match the world: hardened by hatred, anger, fear, and lust; narrowed by prejudice, and lack of depth.
SIDEBAR: When my girls were small, I was too busy and full of myself… to see what they had (that I was missing). Decades later, God gave me a new heart. But I still have more growing down to do: 'He must increase, but I must decrease' (John 3:30).
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
You have new hearts, too. Always act them out. Don’t let the world (or rulish religion) smother the little child inside of you. Consider some ways to “nourish” that child:
Become excited! Be thrilled with your journey as an actor: Enjoy self-submissions and auditions. The audience size is irrelevant. Just doing what you love is the cool part.
Become more faithful! Be bold enough to embrace adventure, like a child who leaps in his father's car– not worried about anything else. You know your Dad’s got everything covered.
Become more loving! Be unconcerned with the color, lifestyle, age, or status of the people you meet. Prejudice is non-existent in tots. Look for real smiles, gentle hearts, and kind eyes.
Become forgiving! Be quick to forget an old argument… and quick to remember what Jesus did. Every little kid completely gets it. They forgive every offense, small and large.
Become respectful! Be the good child who learns the easy way. Obey your Father. Respect your elders. Clean up your messes. Help friends and strangers. Share your food and “toys”. Never disparage.
Become more humble! Be small enough to fully realize… you can't do anything worthwhile alone. Nor do you deserve applause or credit. Only God's work will last, so ask His help.
Become delightful! Be a positive pleasure to others. Kids require care, but their joy makes it fun. If you're nice and kind to everybody, you'll be a good ambassador for Christ.
Become more open! Expect to see and receive miracles. When you eagerly anticipate them, your Father never fails to deliver. How many doubting toddlers do you know?
Become more active! Be a mover, shaker and explorer. Children seldom settle, except to sleep. Do what God says without hesitation. Never sit in fear or complacency.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
Do cherish and protect your innocence. 'That you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world' (Philippians 2:15).

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
