Losers: Captives

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach The Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed…

Luke 4:18 (NKJV)

When Jesus came to set the captives free, He didn’t specify every “captor”– nor all the forms captivity can take. The variety seems sadly endless, including:

  • Jailers, warlords, and human traffickers.

  • Dictators and kings in repressive nations.

  • Hateful judges or those who accept bribes.

  • Abusive parents, spouses, and bullies.

  • Alcohol, cigarettes, and narcotics.

  • Destructive, habitual behaviors.

  • Any person or “thing” that masters us.

Some of us “choose” our own captivity. Other times, we’re taken against our will. Either way, it’s harmful or terrible, because captives DO LOSE their liberty.

Is Satan behind ALL captivity? Arguably, yes. He’s the king of sin, who constantly tempts us to bad choices.

But gloriously,

Jesus told us, and finally SHOWED us… God breaks every chain of captivity– because Christ conquered Satan, sin, and death, and then Personally invited us to walk in freedom with Him FOREVER.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

You’re God's freedom fighters in media. Against the devil, you’re fearsome soldiers– fighting fiercely in prayer and in Word!

Toward the captives, you’re gentle and kind, representing the freedom found in Christ!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
