Christian Pitfalls: Lack Of Adventure

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)

Terah took his son Abram, his grandson, Lot, son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law, Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Harran, they settled there…

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people, and your father’s household to the land I will show you…” So Abram went, as the Lord had told him.

Genesis 11:31-12:4 (NIV)

Consider the meaning of ADVENTURE:

  • “Ad” is a Latin prefix of direction– specifically forward.

  • “Venture” is a project or activity, which is new, exciting, and difficult, because it involves the risk of failure.

The two words join to become ADVENTURE: an unusual opportunity…

  • For stars to step forward when others don’t,

  • For heroes to enter where others won’t!

But for faith-walking Christians, where’s the risk? Isn’t Jesus Himself our Guarantor? Doesn’t He go with us– and protect us? Our wins may take awhile, but they’re coming!

King David (and other Bible giants) pushed through years of trials to gain their wins… but they never lost their hope or resolve. David’s pain is followed by GREAT advice!

‘I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!’ (Psalm 27:13-14).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

God calls you to an adventurous field! Accept it! Embrace it! Celebrate it!

  • Don’t compare your path to more “normal” paths.

  • Don’t allow skeptics, who live more “normal” lives… ‘Quench the Spirit’ (1 Thessalonians 5:19), Who has inspired your dreams!

Will you face failure? Yes. “No’s” WILL confront you. (That’s part of your job.) So face them down, brush the dust off your feet, and continue!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
