Christian Pitfalls: Deep Down Disease

Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’

“‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it.

Luke 13:8-9 (NIV)

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

Proverbs 4:23 (NASB)

Consider bedsores:

In early stages, they’re covered by skin, which can be hot, hardened, and discolored. But underneath are terrible ulcers… which can be deadly

Consider sick trees:

In early stages, they’re covered by leaves, which hide their dwarfed, bitter, or missing fruit. But underground are ill, infected roots… which can be deadly.

Consider sick souls:

In the early stages, they’re covered by acts, “productive” lives, and artificial smiles. But underneath are depression and pain… which can be deadly.

In each of these cases, the cure is the same!

  1. Remove the cover (skin, soil, or pretense).

  2. Look deeply and diagnose the problem.

  3. Apply light, TLC, and be patient.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Deep down diseases may plague the best of us– from childhood abuse, neglect, or traumas. We try to move forward and some succeed– with noteworthy strength and accomplishments.

But if the pain isn’t aired and treated, it often “festers” and pops up later, sometimes with disastrous repercussions that ruin seemingly wonderful lives.

My advice to you:

Open yourself up to wise, godly friends. Bring light to the darkest parts of your past. Treat them with TLC and be patient. Healing will begin. Soon, you’ll feel remarkably stronger.

Last step? SHARE your overcoming stories. You’ll give hope to others still in hiding

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
