Christian Pitfalls: Worry
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)
“Okay, but Jesus… have You considered all the stuff that's hanging over my head?”
“I have! But Christians, have you considered Me hanging on the Cross... and what it means?”
SIDEBAR: Sometimes I mention my dad, Jack Lewis, a World War ll fighter pilot in the China-Burma-India theater, who would become an Air Force stunt pilot.
In the war, he won some major medals. Eager for stories, I asked my dad, “How?”
His no-frill 2-word answer? “I survived.”
Not satisfied with that, I pushed harder: “How? Were you a better pilot?”– “No,” he laughed.
“I think it's because I never worried. Most guys thought about their girlfriends or wives. I didn’t have one. My mind stayed clear. I lived for the moment.”
This same lack of worry characterized the rest of his life. He still had troubles, but refused to worry. As he believed, God ALWAYS delivered.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
Don't worry. Don't sit, lie, or dwell with it. Don't regard it. Worry opposes faith, and Satan will give you an endless list of concerns to prevent your faith from its inevitable conclusion: SUCCESS!
As The Word says, cast ALL your cares on God! 'Throw all your worry on him, because He cares for you' (1 Peter 5:7).
Become a major-league power pitcher. This starring spiritual position doesn’t come easily… so PRACTICE it. I believe you were born to be a star!
3 More Reminders:
Without a doubt, worry is a demon, so don’t get into a slow dance with him. 'Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you' (Luke 10:19). Say NO to that dance!
Worry’s favorite home is in your mind. He sneaks in any time he gets a chance. Each time, kick him out and re-set your “lock”. ‘Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things' (Philippians 4:8).
Voids beg to be filled. When you feel empty, stop and thank the Lord! Thanksgiving fills you (and keeps worry out.) 'Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.' (1 Thessalonians 5:12).
You have ‘The Mind of Christ’ (1 Corinthians 2:16).

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
