Christian Pitfalls: Forgetting God’s Sovereignty
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness,
The power and the glory,
The victory and the majesty;
For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours;
Yours is the kingdom, O Lord,
And You are exalted as head over all.
Both riches and honor come from You,
And You reign over all.
In Your Hand is power and might;
In Your Hand, it is to make great,
And to give strength to all.
1 Chronicles 29:11-12 (NKJV)
To the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
Jude 1:25 (ESV)
In considering God’s children worldwide, could many Americans be called “spoiled”? Entitled, demanding, and complaining?
Do we cherish the sweet Words of Jesus, but refuse to chew on the harder parts? Are we use to…
Living safely in comfortable homes?
Driving tuned-up cars anywhere we’d like?
Eating ample food from ample pantries?
Dressing well from our overstuffed closets?
Worshipping freely the faith of our choice?
Having cash, bank accounts, and credit cards?
Owning smartphones, TVs, and computers?
Buying stuff we don’t need, but simply want?
Do we expect constant rewards from God? But when problems large or small come our way, do we GRIPE and WONDER why it’s happened?
Do we think God should follow OUR timelines? Or maybe doesn’t see when we’re in pain? Has He FORGOTTEN to make us happy?
Or… better said, have we forgotten Him?
Specifically, His sovereignty?
Have we pushed our Good Father to “tough love,” by refusing to grow UP and mature in faith, reverence, and appreciation.?
Considering the Jews in Exodus:
‘Again and again they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel’ (Psalm 78:41).
'Prescribing to Him what proofs He should give of His power and presence with them, and what methods He should take in leading them and providing for them; directing Him what to do, and when, and in what manner, to do it, and murmuring if He did not always grant their particular and various desires' (Benson Commentary).*
On the other hand (certainly not God’s), America is a take-charge nation, with lots of prosperous, take-charge Christians.
But in our take-charge-we-know-best conceits, WE FORGET God's rightful sovereignty:
'Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as Head over all' (1 Chronicles 29:11).
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
Growing up in God takes humility, thankfulness, prayer, and time in the Word. Don't let anything make you forget God.
'Draw near to God and He will draw near to you' (James 4:8).
Only in His proximity is found real and unassailable happiness.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
