The Taylor Swift Effect: Resilience

Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.

Micah 7:8 (NIV)

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

Psalm 34:19 (NIV)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, Who have been called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Taylor Smith exemplifies resilience, as does EVERY celebrity who lasts. Those who rise and shine receive lots of hits– and not just social media “high fives,” but put-downs from all corners of the Earth!

Whether from greed, envy, or ambition, those who are loved will also be hated, with Jesus, Himself, as our Star Model.

Let’s examine what “resilience” means:

“The word resilience comes from the Latin "resilio", formed by the verb "salio" (jump) with the prefix "re", indicating repetition. So, the meaning is literally “to jump again”, or “bounce back”. Meanwhile, the Merriam Webster Dictionary defines resilience as "an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change".

From a psychology perspective: “Emotional resilience is the ability to deal with adversity in a constructive way, adapting and becoming stronger in the face of traumatic events. Therefore, a resilient person is one who learns from the adverse situations they experience, and is able to see the positive side of things.” (Santander Academy).

In her decades-long career, Taylor Swift continues to face heartaches and trials: problems that might tempt most people to quit. How did she take the blows and KEEP RISING?

She paused, adjusted, and turned things around… to the thunderous applause of her fans. Everyone respects heroes who “push through” TRANSFORMING SETBACKS INTO VICTORIES.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Because of Jesus as a Man on Earth, because of every “riser” ever born… practice your shows of grace under pressure… through the empowering presence of God.

Because of your limitless potential, because Satan has YOU on his hit list… when someone strikes to put you down, bounce back.

Get creative. God will help you. Bounce back!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
