The Taylor Swift Effect: Storytelling

All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:

“I will open My mouth in parables;
I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.”

Matthew 13:34-35 (NKJV)

Jesus is the Utmost Storyteller, and Taylor Swift is a world-class expert! That’s cool, but why is it so important?

  • Stories were, are, and forever will be… mankind’s best means of communication.

  • Stories teach, guide, excite, and chasten us. They pass through our ears and go to our hearts.

The brain is peripherally involved, but in many ways, stories bypass thought… and reach to the core of our emotions!

The result? People are moved to action. The big question is– what KIND of action?

  • Sad stories lead to acts of compassion.

  • Scary stories lead us to fight or flee.

  • Gossip stories lead us to judge and scorn.

  • Uplifting stories fan our hopes and dreams.

  • Sharing our own stories nurtures friendship!

Taylor’s songs feature stories from her life. Her fans are moved by her story format, and they’re also moved to friendships with her.

Isn’t the relationship long-distance? Yes, but the affection they feel is real.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ, consider:

Your own story-telling ability, in every audition and performance, in every act, song, dance, script, and picture, in every post on social media… is foundational for your own success.

So pay more attention to “the story” and “the message” you’re communicating… than showing off “how talented” you are.

One more thing:

Jesus-stories lead people to Heaven. Whether or not He’s mentioned directly... you can “act Him out” everywhere you go.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
