Homesick: For Familiarity
if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)
Sometimes, God's orders can feel like a slap in the face of familiarity. His Commission requires transformation, revelation, motivation, and the energy to get up and go!
Go where? Wherever God leads. With what strength? High-energy faith: the kind that moves us.
Because familiarity is like hitting the brakes on a performance car, or driving it just once a week to church, or garaging it in fear of the world. Its power is never put to the test!
But truly, should Christian faith be tied to the altar of familiarity? OR should it go unto every nation as the light, love, and hope of Jesus Christ?
PERSONAL NOTE: During my decades with AMTC, I often traveled more than I was home. As Jesus prescribed, we went forth in teams– scouting and speaking to God’s performers. Adventures were everywhere, every day. The Christians with me became family. I love each of them more than I can say!
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
You're called to sound stages and productions. You're called to fields filled with non-believers. You're called to be ambassadors for Christ– sowing God’s talents to grow in the world!
But longing for home can STOP your progress. How can you prevent eyes looking backwards?
Carry your truest home deep in your heart. The Spirit of God loves new adventures! Even so, hold tight to God’s earthly forms: He's The Word, so read the Bible daily. He’s in nature, so spend some time outside. He’s in worship, so hang with worshippers.
Focus on your Captain and your mission. As new creations, get into HIGH gear. You’re action heroes. You’re emerging stars. It won’t be easy, since good things take time, but it’s your destiny to rise and shine.
So in terms of your talent and duty…
If you're driving a high performance car,
If God fired up your heart like an engine,
If your high-powered motor runs on faith,
If your faith allows you to move mountains,
If these mountains become super speedways,
If today's fastest ways are media...
Don't stall out at home. Don’t choose “familiar”.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
