Impossible Healings: Messiah-Care
The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Psalm 34:18 (NKJV)
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3 (NKJV)
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.
Isaiah 61:1 (NKJV)
The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.
Luke 4:18 (NKJV)
Regarding the restoration of health, God has a small group: the brokenhearted.
When the Preacher began His ministry, He offered a no-fail insurance plan. A modern name might be 'Messiah-Care.'
Its Organizer? The Great Physician.
His field of focus? Cardiology.
If cardiology is 'the study of the heart and its functions in health and disease' (Random House Dictionary), then the Word is a Medical Textbook. God highlights the heart– again and again.
Consider two fundamental reasons:
A bad heart is the root of pain and death: 'Wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved' (Jeremiah 4:14). 'He who has a deceitful heart finds no good' (Proverbs 17:20).
A good heart is the root of health and life: 'Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life' (Proverbs 4:23). 'A sound heart is life to the body' (Proverbs 14:30).
Surely Christ, the Head of Messiah-Care, wants all of Earth’s people alive and well!
'For this is good and acceptable in the Sight of God our Savior, Who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth' (1 Timothy 2:3-4).
It’s a bold plan based on a bolder move:
'I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly' (John 10:10).
Other plans claim similar benefits. But none match the boldest move ever made:
'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life' (John 3:16).
He believes in His plan so fervently, that He co-signs every application in His Son’s NEVER-FAIL, NEVER-FADE Blood.
But enrollment requires a commitment. Old and hardened hearts must be surrendered… for repair or replacements to begin.
Why does God prefer the brokenhearted? Because they’re humble. Because they’re open.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ: Consider humility a check box on your Messiah-care application.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
