Superlatives! Time Management
He has said in his heart, 'I shall not be moved; I shall never be in adversity.'
Psalm 10:6 (NKJV)
Peter answered and said to Him, 'Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.'
Matthew 26:33 (NKJV)
'Come,' one says, 'I will bring wine, and we will fill ourselves with intoxicating drink; Tomorrow will be as today, and much more abundant.'
Isaiah 56:12 (NKJV)
Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit;' whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow.
James 4:13-14 (NKJV)
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
Proverbs 27:1 (NKJV)
You shall not tempt the Lord your God.
Matthew 4:7, Deuteronomy 6:16 (NKJV)
When we say NEVER, we tempt our timeless God to prove us wrong. Why?
Never is an absolute measurement, and God owns everything absolutely–including all time. When we say TOMORROW, we tempt again. We have no guarantee of tomorrow–at least, not on Earth. If we get another day, it's a gift.
“I'll call my sick grandmother tomorrow.”
“I'll exercise after the holidays.”
“I’m so tired. I'll go to church next Sunday.”
“I'll tithe when my bills are under control.”
“I'll be bolder about Christ as soon as…”
Actors, models, and talent for Christ, as Christ’s movers and shakers, know 2 things:
Procrastination is the devil's game.
Betting on tomorrow is a poor bet.
God puts it this way:
'Be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect' (Luke 12:40).
'Behold, I stand at the door and knock' (Revelation 3:20).
'Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is' (Ephesians 5:15-17).
What IS God’s will, in terms of time or “when?”
When the says call, move, go, give, or do, He means NOW, TODAY!
As for temporal immediacy, recall these Words to hopeful disciples:
'Follow Me.' But he said, 'Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.' But He said to him, 'Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.' Another also said, 'I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say goodbye to those at home.' But Jesus said to him, 'No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God' (Luke 9:59-62).
God's call to immediacy seems harsh, but the punishment for waiting seems worse.
The point? Our Father owns our time. Not us!
If He asks us to leave people we know or work we do– to follow Him today, trust that His care of our priorities (and the day or time they need to be done)... exceeds our own: a.k.a. “He’s got this!”

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
