Superlatives! Eternity

'I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,' says the Lord, 'Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty.'

Revelation 1:8 (NKJV)

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV)

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will by no means pass away.

Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33 (NKJV)

Once upon a time, we learned who God IS. He lived before what we call “time” began.

Our Father invented the divisions of yesterday, today, and tomorrow–to help organize His grand creations. Their movements were brilliantly synchronized in a wondrous, circular harmony… but the idea of eternity was beyond their scope of understanding.

At the moment of time God called “Day Six,” He made His most glorious work: Adam. He looked like God and was loved like a son. Eternity was put in Adam's heart.*

Earth’s first man didn't think much about it, because to him, God was eternity.

His next amazing work was lovely Eve, and her heart was especially tender.

Spoiler Alert! God has an enemy named Satan, the devil, the deceiver– and he was jealous of God's new children, so he tried to steal their eternity.

He talked Eve into a bad idea. Next, Eve convinced Adam to follow her– and suddenly, eternity seemed lost. They had to leave the Garden of Eden, a place of peace and everlasting life.

How could they return to eternity? Their new world was hard, and so the years passed.

But one day, at just the perfect moment, Earth’s clock was re-set. Because Jesus came.

  • 'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life' (John 3:16).

Satan's tricks were trumped by the King of kings–and ETERNITY, though long buried deep in the hearts of men, was offered AGAIN.

Between then and now, Jesus commissioned an army of light to reveal where eternity is found (for people who didn’t know where to look.)

Even so, they DO know something’s “out there,” but they don't know the Key is found within. And until they do, they can't live happily ever after… which was the Lord’s plan from the beginning.**

Superlatives! Eternity (Part 5)

* Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV): 'He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.'

** Regarding some unseen power being “out there,” I believe this common belief (that the majority of Earth’s people feel)... is the reason so many look to magic, divination, horoscopes, and an obvious fascination with the supernatural, especially in media. They don’t know Jesus yet, and it’s our commission to represent Him.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
