The Fragility Of Life: Our Model

Those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the Image of His Son…

Romans 8:28 (NASB)

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

Ephesians 5:1 (ESV)

Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:1 (ESV)

Whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked.

1 John 2:6 (ESV)

Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works…

Titus 2:11 (ESV)

America’s Next Top Model is Christ!

  • He’s also our past and present Model,

  • Our glorious and unchanging Model,

  • Our culturally relevant Model,

  • Our how-to-worship-the-Father Model,

  • Our how-to-love-our-enemies Model,

  • Our how-to-live-a-simple-life Model,

  • Our how-to-deal-with-injustice Model,

  • Our how-to-choose-the-right-pastor Model,

  • Our I-want-to-be-just-like-Him Model…

If you have questions about the Bible,

  • Where rules or words can be taken two ways,

  • If you’re not sure that a teacher is right,

  • Then study Jesus in the 4 Gospels.

He’s God’s First Line, Main Line, and Bottom Line! He’s God’s Introduction and His Conclusion. The Old Testament sets Earth’s stage for Him.

I believe we have an urgent calling TO TRY and look, walk, and talk… like Jesus! (Intended emphasis on the word, TRY).

Because we can’t reach His high water mark. Nevertheless, as we try, so we rise.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: your model can’t be a Hollywood star. Nor can it be a high-rolling pastor, who owns a posh home and drives a luxe car. Jesus was homeless and traveled by foot (except for one short ride on a donkey.)

Rehearse how He lived and what He valued. Choose Him as your Model and NO ONE ELSE.

If you do, then you’ll start to look like Him. God guarantees it!

‘And we all, who with unveiled faces* contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His Image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, Who is the Spirit’ (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Bottom Line: We must obey and copy our Captain to transform the fragile thread of our life into the sure bond of eternal life.

The Fragility Of Life: Our Model (Part 5)

* I believe ‘unveiled faces’ means:

  1. We gained the right to have direct contact with God (no longer solely through a human priest, because the sacrifice of Jesus (God’s Son and our Great High Priest) removed the veil of separation, and…

  2. Our open and honest contemplation of Jesus.
