The Fragility Of Life: A Sobering Awareness
Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
Psalm 144:3 (ESV)
Certainly, every man at his best state IS but vapor.
Psalm 139:5 (NKJV)
We blossom like a flower and then wither. Like a passing shadow, we quickly disappear.
Job 14:2 (NLT)
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
1 Peter 1:9 (ESV)
Sooner or later, each person on earth is faced with the fragility of life: through a loved one’s death, through catastrophe, or through our own pending mortality.
Yesterday, my husband’s long-time best friend received a frightening diagnosis. Today, I learned of another friend’s death.
We know our earth-time is temporary, but most of us don’t like to dwell on it.
I DARE SUGGEST we do the opposite, by contemplating our own end of days.
Really? Isn’t that a negative thought? Of course it is… for those who have no hope.* But we have Jesus! Praise God we don’t sail in a sinking boat. We follow an invincible Captain!
Jesus faced death and conquered it FOR US! So when we leave our current assignment on this earth’s lovely, but turbulent seas… we move to our lasting home in Heaven.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ: I propose you and I focus on five things, while we move through the stages of this world.
Loving God with all our hearts, minds, and strength.
Loving our neighbors as we love ourselves.
Obeying and copying our Captain.
Walking out the Commission He gave us.
Seizing every day’s opportunities.
