Rebels Without A Cause: I Spy…

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21 (NKJV)

Chapters 13 and 14 in Numbers might be Christians peeking at Hollywood. What most Jews saw could be what Christians see.

In the Bible, Moses sent twelve top men on a secret reconnaissance mission. They were sent as spies to the Promised Land: 'A land which flows with milk and honey.' When they returned, ten came back TERRIFIED:

'The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature... and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight' (Numbers 13:32-33).

Their great fear overshadowed their great cause. They became rebels and paid a great price: 599,998 men died in the wilderness.

Certainly today, many church leaders consider Hollywood to be a land that can devour Christian immigrants: a looming fortress controlled by giants.

Paul's list of sins in the Verses above might describe the sins of entertainment. Righteous Christians shudder at the prospect of surviving and thriving in that land.

Are those saints acting like little children… in this game? 'I Spy With My Little Eye.'

Joshua and Caleb saw something else: 'The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us' (Numbers 14:7-8).

They didn’t spy with their own little eyes. They saw with the Almighty Eyes of God.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: You’re seeing like Joshua and Caleb. You see the entertainment industry like your Savior does: a place that needs love and good examples.

From the massive mountains of media, rebels without a cause can see the Light. Some will choose the Greatest Cause to follow: Jesus Christ Himself.
