Rejection: God’s Word

How can you say, “We are wise,
And the Law of the Lord is with us”?
Look, the false pen of the scribe certainly works falsehood.
The wise men are ashamed,
They are dismayed and taken.
Behold, they have rejected the Word of the Lord;
So what wisdom do they have?

Jeremiah 8:8-9 (NKJV)

He said to them, “All too well you reject the Commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.”

Mark 7:9 (NKJV)

I’m deeply troubled by Christian leaders who cut and rearrange the Word of God. They mix and serve the sweet parts people like.

They drop the hard parts that need to be ‘chewed’... treating congregations like little kids. Consequently, they don’t grow up in Christ… nor meet the world’s need for seasoned soldiers.

  • 'Everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the Word of righteousness, for he is a babe' (Hebrews 5:13).

What happens next invites disaster!

Without the right diet, babies get spoiled!

  • 'Children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting' (Ephesians 4:14).

Are these crafty preachers like film editors?
(Working to please the crowd for good reviews?)

  • 'You shall not add to the Word which I command you, nor take from It, that you may keep the Commandments of the Lord your God which I command you' (Deuteronomy 4:2).*

I don’t see many corrections in church. Why? It’s not easy. It’s not comfortable. (But when is a Christ-walk comfortable?) More to the point, God prescribes correction.

  • 'If someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently' (Galatians 6:1).

  • 'All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work' (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Cutting God’s Word is rejecting THE Word, namely Jesus Christ. He says,

'If the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch' (Matthew 15:14).

Therein, I give three pieces of advice:

  1. Stay in The Word and study Him closely.

  2. Don’t follow an editor of The Word.

  3. Make sure your closest friends are Rock-solid.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s not from me. It’s God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings. This series is a rewrite of a prior 2014 series.
