Rejection: The Entertainment Industry

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Psalm 27:13-14 (NKJV)

My dad was an insurance salesman. But his FIRST BIG JOB was in World War II, as a fighter pilot based in Burma. He computed his odds of survival – based on the # of missions he flew. The more he flew, the lower the odds. He shrugged it off, because he had a goal. He hoped to become Squadron Commander:/

I think the title, dare-devil, fits him. Thank God he lived to tell me his stories. Regarding his future career in sales, he’d smile as he said, “Carey…

“Sales is a numbers game. Expect to win, and shake off the losses. Rejection is a card in every hand. Here’s what you need to know– and not forget: Winners don’t quit, and quitters never win. But you’ve gotta throw the ‘Doubt’ card away.”

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: With God behind you, your wins are coming. Of course, talent and preparation help. But the principal part is perseverance! (What my dad said was true!)

  • The salesmen who chose to “toss off” the NO’s,

  • The salesmen who believed NO meant NOT YET,

  • The salesmen who never walked off the field…

  • Won! Their dream of the “good life” always came true.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: Entertainment bookings work the same way…

  • Except they’re harder.

  • The odds are smaller.

  • The field is bigger, and…

  • The game is longer.

But God Says…
(And my lifelong experience confirms),

  • If you stay in it, you’ll surely win it…

  • As long as you play by your Captain’s Rules.

King David demonstrated the process. He was cast in a huge role as a teen, but would be 30 when that curtain rose.

In the time between the casting and show, David pushed through every dry period– getting far more rejection than success. But he persevered for his starring role.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: Count yourself worthy to be on the field. Satan doesn’t stand a chance against you.

Rejection: The Entertainment Industry (Part 1)

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s not from me. It’s God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings. This series is a rewrite of a prior 2014 series.
