The Straight Up Word: A King Like David
The Law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The Testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
The Statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The Commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The Judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover, by Them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping Them there is great reward.
Psalm 19:7-11 (NKJV)
Almost everyone admires King David:
The son overlooked by his family,
The shepherd who defeated a lion,
The teenager who toppled a giant,
The performer who calmed a mad king,
The warrior who won mighty battles,
The fugitive who had to hide in caves,
The outcast who cried out in misery,
The victim who refused to take revenge,
The king who brought Israel together,
The lover who made an awful mistake,
The supplicant who begged God’s forgiveness,
The father of sly sons who betrayed him,
The author of deep and glorious Psalms,
The artist God used to represent Him,
The forefather of Jesus Christ on Earth.
Through it all, King David remained one man after God's Own Heart.
But how did he endure such a troubled life, break character with two MAJOR mistakes--and through it all… remain God's beloved: the overcoming star of Israel?
By the Word of God! David clung to It…
Like a small child clinging to his father,
Like a rich man clinging to his money,
Like a wise king clinging to his power,
Like a weak man clinging to His Savior.
Because he was the Straight-Up-Word… IS.
If you want a piece of this Mighty Rock, the supreme Power of the universe, open the cover to God's Treasure Chest and dig into It. Eat It and drink It…
The unbeatable, Straight-Up-Word of God… without man's processing, pasteurizing, and people-pleasing interpretations.
The Word changes you from the inside out: from the heart… to the head… to the body.
He also moves beyond and around you: changing the circumstances of your life!

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
