The Armor Of God: The Sword Of The Spirit

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

Ephesians 6:17 (NIV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1 (NKJV)

The Sword of the Spirit is Christ, Himself. As a Man, Jesus embodied God’s Word. As our Teacher and Captain, HE STILL DOES.

  • ‘For the Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword…’ (Hebrews 4:12).

When the inner edge is applied to us, It cuts…

  • ‘Between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires’ (remainder of Hebrews 4:12).

When the outer edge turns toward demons, they flee!

  • ‘Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you’ (James 4:7).

Our Captain demonstrated the process in His 40-day wilderness trial.*

Note To Self & Others:

We must be IN SUBMISSION to God FIRST!

How?

  • We humble ourselves.

  • We deny ourselves.

  • We obey Jesus.

  • We take our crosses,

  • And we follow Him.

Easier Said Than Done?

Yes. A faith walk IS “easier said than done,” but our merciful Father is patient. He knows transformation is a process.

  • ‘And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His Image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, Who is the Spirit’ (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: READ SCRIPTURE. MEMORIZE IT. SPEAK IT… over every trial and temptation.

  • 'And they overcame him {Satan} because of the Blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony' (Revelation 12:11).

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If anything I write is on point and agrees with His Word, it’s not from me. This is a 2023 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
