The Armor Of God: The Helmet Of Salvation
Take the helmet of salvation...
Ephesians 6:17 (NIV)
I SO NEED the Helmet of Salvation.
Here’s how I see it. It looks like a military helmet. Since God made it, it’s EXTRAORDINARY:
It shines like pure gold, reflecting the light, therein blinding all would-be attackers.
It’s impenetrable like a diamond. Only God Himself puts it on… or off!
It covers the ears and protects the mind from lies and evil insinuations.
Before I was a committed Christian, I didn't know this helmet existed. Consequently and unfortunately, my mind was an emotional war zone.*
Close friends describe me as “exuberant” – tending to show extremes of behavior. When it’s positive, everyone’s lifted. When it’s not, the opposite can happen:(
In weaker moments, I was chased by depression and worry. I now believe those “feelings” are demons (or at least, inspired or spurred on by them).
I was angry and full of foreboding. I was succor-punched by my emotions, as I ran a respected company and looked like I had it all together.
It was. I didn’t. Ah... the double life.
I was destined to break and surrender– thankfully to God (and not the devil). The wonderful result? DELIVERANCE!
'And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus' (Philippians 4:7).
As a believer, I learned of the war. As a result, I put on God’s Helmet… to protect the Miracle beneath it: 'The Mind of Christ' (1 Corinthians 2:16)– leaving Satan powerless to enter our ears or to manipulate our thoughts.
'We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ' (2 Corinthians 10:5).
God made the Helmet. Jesus tested It… and made It available to Christians. He Personally assumed all the cost.
We put It on. We put Him on. We’re saved!
End of story?
No. The war continues. Because sometimes we forget our Armor…
Also because…
Our Captain calls us to fight FOR OTHERS.
'Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ' (1 Peter 1:13).

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If anything I write is on point and agrees with His Word, it’s not from me. This is a 2023 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
